Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Cyberdoku (“we”, “the game”, “this site”) collects and how it is used.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: If you create an account, we store your chosen username and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text. You may optionally add an email address, which we use only to send you a password-reset link if you request one.
- Gameplay data: Your best scores and the themes you have unlocked or purchased are stored so they can appear on the leaderboard and follow your account across devices. Your username and score are shown publicly on the leaderboard.
- Information stored on your device: The game uses your browser’s local storage to remember your high score, theme preferences, and (when signed in) a login token. This stays on your device.
- Technical data: Our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) process standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver the site, keep it secure, and limit abuse.
- Usage analytics: We use our own self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics (GoatCounter) to understand how the game is used — for example page views, referrers, and which features are popular. It is cookieless, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across other websites.
- Advertising data (Android app only): The Cyberdoku Android app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To do that, Google may process your device’s advertising identifier and technical information such as your approximate location and device type. This does not apply to the website, which shows no ads.
- Purchase records: If you buy an optional unlock (see “Purchases and payments” below), we store a record that your account made the purchase — such as the item and an order reference — so we can apply it to your account. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
2. Cookies and advertising
- The game itself uses local storage rather than cookies for its own features.
- The website shows no advertising and uses no advertising cookies.
- The Android app shows a banner ad supplied by Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use your device’s advertising identifier to serve and measure ads, and — where permitted — to personalise them. See Google’s advertising policies.
- If you are in a region that requires it (such as the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are used, using Google’s own consent form. You can reset that choice by reinstalling the app.
- Buying the Ad-free + Theme Pass removes the ads from the app.
3. Purchases and payments
Cyberdoku offers optional one-time purchases, such as an ad-free unlock and individual themes. These payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as our authorised reseller and merchant of record.
- When you make a purchase, you provide your payment details directly to Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card or bank details.
- Dodo Payments processes information such as your name, email address, billing details and location (for example, to calculate tax) under its own Privacy Policy.
- As merchant of record, Dodo Payments is the seller for your transaction and is responsible for collecting and remitting any applicable sales tax or VAT.
- We receive only confirmation of the purchase and a transaction reference, which we store to unlock the item on your account.
- Purchases are charged in US dollars (USD). Any amount shown in rand is an approximate conversion for reference only; your bank may apply its own conversion and fees.
4. Refunds
Everything we sell is a digital item that unlocks on your account immediately after payment, so purchases are generally final and non-refundable once delivered. That said, we would rather you were happy than keep a few dollars:
- If something didn’t work — you were charged but the unlock never appeared, you were charged twice, or the item isn’t what was described — contact us and we will fix it or refund you in full.
- Changed your mind? If you haven’t used the purchase, email us within 14 days and we’ll consider a refund as a goodwill gesture.
- Your legal rights come first. Nothing here limits any statutory right to a refund you may have under your local consumer law (for example in the EEA or UK), even where that right would otherwise be waived for instantly-delivered digital content.
- Refunds are not given for accounts removed for cheating or abuse, or for items earned by playing rather than bought.
To request a refund, email [email protected] from the address you used at checkout (or tell us your Cyberdoku username), with the date and amount. We aim to reply within a few days. Refunds are issued through Dodo Payments as merchant of record, back to your original payment method; a refunded purchase’s unlock is removed from your account.
5. How we use information
To run the game and its leaderboard, sync your account across devices, secure the service and prevent abuse, and process optional purchases.
6. Third parties
We use Dodo Payments (payment processing and merchant of record for purchases), Google AdMob (advertising, in the Android app only), Resend (to send password-reset emails, if you've added an email address), and Cloudflare (content delivery and security). Our usage analytics are self-hosted (GoatCounter) and are not shared with any third-party analytics provider. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Data retention and deletion
Account data is kept until the account is deleted. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings → Account inside the game; see Delete your account for exactly what is removed. To request access to your data, or if you can't sign in to delete the account yourself, contact us at [email protected].
8. Children
Cyberdoku is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Your choices and rights
You can play without an account. You can clear the data stored on your device by clearing your browser storage. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete your data — contact us at [email protected].
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
